The 5th Column in the Catholic Church

Nearing the end of the Viet Nam War I enlisted in the Marines. The Marine Corps had already left Viet Nam (I was not aware of that at the time). Early in my enlistment however I was forced at various times to undergo being called a "baby killer", and having to endure being spit on at airports, and on the streets. At times there were efforts by many radicals to get my fellows and me to desert. I retired after 22 1/2 years.

Now we as Catholics are being asked to desert the Faith. I present here a post from the Catholic league about a pair of liberal Catholics calling for a mass desertion...

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments as follows:

Never has there been a more vicious anti-Catholic advertisement in a prominent American newspaper than the one in today’s New York Times by Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). The demonization of Catholicism is palpable.

The pretext of the ad [click here] is the Catholic Church’s opposition to the Health and Human Services mandate forcing Catholic non-profits to include abortion-inducing drugs, contraception and sterilization in its insurance plans. Its real agenda is to smear Catholicism. Here is how the ad begins: “It’s time to quit the Roman Catholic Church. Will it be reproductive freedom, or back to the Dark Ages?”

The ad blames the Catholic Church for promoting “acute misery, poverty, needless suffering, unwanted pregnancies, overpopulation, social evils and deaths.” It says the bishops are “launching a ruthless political Inquisition” against women. It talks about “preying priests” and corruption “going all the way to the top.” In an appeal to Catholic women, it opines, “Apparently, you’re like the battered woman who, after being beaten down every Sunday, feels she has no place else to go.”

FFRF is led by a husband and wife team, Annie Laurie Gaylor and Dan Barker. Fortunately for Gaylor, her mother did not follow through on the advice she gave women in her book, Abortion Is a Blessing.

Not a single Catholic who reads this ad will be impelled to leave the Church. That is not the issue (Catholicism, unlike many other religions, is actually growing in the U.S., and worldwide). The issue is the increase in hate speech directed at Catholics.

Nothing will stop Catholics from demanding that the Obama administration respect their First Amendment rights, this vile assault by FFRF notwithstanding. Why the Times allowed this ad is another issue altogether.

Vatican statistics show Catholic growth

March 12, 2012 2:25 PM
Vatican City, Mar 12, 2012 / 12:25 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- The Catholic Church added 15 million new faithful in 2010 and the number of priests continued to steadily increase for the tenth straight year, according to the latest edition of the pontifical yearbook.

The Catholic population increased from 1.181 million in 2009 to 1.196 million in 2010, a growth of 1.3 percent. The percentage of baptized Catholics worldwide has remained steady at 17.5 percent.

Priests increased from 410,593 to 512,236. There were about 227,000 diocesan priests and 135,227 religious order priests. The growth trend has continued since the year 2000. The number of clergy increased by 1,695 in Asia and by 765 in Africa. Growth in the Americas and Oceania was only in the double-digits, while priest numbers fell by 905 in Europe.

The figures come from the 2012 edition of the Annuario Pontifico, known as the pontifical yearbook, and the “Annuarium Satisticum Ecclesiae.” These provide a statistical snapshot of the Church.

The Holy See’s Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone and Archbishop Angelo Becciu, the Substitute for General Affairs to the Secretary of State, presented the compilations to Pope Benedict XVI on March 10.

The number of bishops has increased from 5,065 to 5,104. Africa again showed the largest growth, adding 16 bishops, while the Americas added 15 and Asia added 12.

The permanent deacon population increased by 3.7 percent from 38,155 to 39,562. Almost 65 percent of this deacon population is in North America, while over 33 percent are in Europe.

The numbers of non-ordained male religious increased slightly and stood at 54,665. Female religious declined from 729,376 to 721,935, with almost a three percent drop in Europe, though their numbers increased in Africa and Asia.

The major seminarian population dropped by 10.4 percent in Europe and by 1.1 percent in the Americas, but showed a 14.2 percent increase in Africa, a 13 percent increase in Asia, and a 12.3 percent increase in Oceania.

The number of students of philosophy and theology in diocesan and religious seminaries has increased constantly over the five years through 2010. They numbered 114,439 in 2005 and 118,990 in 2010.

The two works presented to the Pope also record new events in the life of the Church.

In 2011, Pope Benedict erected eight new episcopal sees, one personal ordinariate and one military ordinariate. One archdiocese and eight dioceses were elevated to the rank of metropolitan see. original article...

Phony Contraception Debate

From Le Femmes the truth...

Nathanson (now a prolife leader)revealed how he and Lader made up statistics and polls to further their agenda including the outrageous lie that "10,000 women died every year from illegal abortions." In 1972, the last year before Roe, the U.S. Department of Vital Statistics recorded 39 deaths. Nobody knows how many die today because the policy is to record deaths from abortion according to the complication. So a woman who dies from septicemia caused by massive infection from leaving fetal parts in the uterus would not be listed as an abortion death. The dishonesty continues for a protected procedure used to solve a social problem. Nobody knows how many women are dying from legal abortion or the related deaths through hormonal chemicals, breast cancer and suicide. more...

‘Liberal Ladies’ Group' learns that abstinence can work as birth control

Left. Helen Thomas Somehow I ok with this...

This next post is from the "Blaze". The real title should be liberal birth control. Denying thier bodies from their male partners may seem like a good idea to them, but I think it is a great idea. Unfortunately since they are liberals they strike will end about 3 minutes after it starts.

List this a classic in the "Law of Unintended Consequences".

The women’s group “Liberal Ladies Who Lunch” is putting together an unusual event, which it is calling “Access Denied: Sex Strike.” The event, which is scheduled to take place between April 28 and May 5, features a poster saying “If our reproductive choices are denied, so are yours.”

The group describes their motivations on the event’s Facebook page, saying, “In truth, if we lose our hard won rights to medical care, birth control and pregnancy choice, it won’t only affect women. Men will have to go back to the days when they waited for or paid for sex. This issue impacts all of us. This strike is designed to make that point. Ask your man to speak up for your rights, because when we lose our reproductive choices, so do they.”

The group then gives a somewhat entertaining history of “sex strikes,” ranging from ancient Greece to modern-day Columbia:

In the ancient Greek play Lysistrata, the women of Greece go on a sex strike to end the decades-long Peloponnesian War. Since then, many women around the world have gone on similar sex strikes to keep their men in line.[...]

[And in Colombia, in 2006] the girlfriends of gang members in one of the country’s most violent cities, Pereira — with a murder rate at the time of 97 per 100,000 people — held a ‘strike of crossed legs,’ giving their men the choice between giving up weapons or giving up sex. ‘We want them to know that violence is not sexy,’ said Jennifer Bayer, an 18-year-old girlfriend of a gang member.

The outcome: In 2010, Pereira’s murder rate dropped by 26.5 percent, the steepest decline in the country.

Unfortunately for the “Liberal Ladies Who Lunch,“ who describe themselves as ”turning America blue, one plate at a time,” the comments section of the event seems to have been overtaken by conservatives.

One commenter put up a picture of Helen Thomas, commenting “Somehow, I’m OK with this.”

Other comments included:

Liberal Hypocrisy: Demanding the government stay out of your bedroom and your womb while at the same time demanding they pay for your birth control and abortions

Isn’t using sex as a bargaining tool contradictory with women wanting to be seen as more than just sex objects?

Just a question for the strikers. Do you support reproductive choice for men? Should a man be able to tell his pregnant girlfriend he doesn’t want to be a father and give up all responsibility for the child? Thanks for the response.

Combine this with the Roe Effect and liberals will be sexless AND childless

“Liberal Ladies Who Lunch” has not yet responded to the fact that, among the most recent fifty comments, there doesn‘t seem to be a single one that isn’t mocking.

And I agree I am ok with this...

The attacks on Christians and the Catholic Church...

...are coming fast and furious.

Catholic Leaders Read Letter Condemning Pro-Gay Marriage Law to 2,500 Churches in England

LONDON — The Catholic Church in England intensified its campaign against government plans to legalize same-sex marriage Sunday, urging the faithful to protect the “true meaning” of matrimony for future generations. In a letter read in 2,500 parish churches across the country during Sunday Mass, the church’s senior archbishops argued that the proposed change would reduce the significance of marriage.“The law helps to shape and form social and cultural values.

A change in the law would gradually and inevitably transform society’s understanding of the purpose of marriage,” Archbishop Vincent Nichols and Archbishop Peter Smith said in the letter.“There would be no recognition of the complementarity of male and female or that marriage is intended for the procreation and education of children,” they wrote.

The archbishops ended the letter by calling on Catholics to fulfill their duty to make sure “the true meaning of marriage is not lost for future generations.”Britain’s government plans to allow everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, to have the option of a civil marriage.

Prime Minister David Cameron has openly backed the plans, and the equalities minister will launch a consultation later this month on how to change the legal definition of marriage to include same-sex couples.Human rights activists said the Catholics’ opposition amounted to discrimination.“They want the law to discriminate against gay couples. Discrimination is not a Christian value,” said gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.Below, watch Archbishop Vincent Nichols of the Diocese of Westminster reading the controversial letter:

Currently only heterosexual couples are permitted to get married in Britain, while civil partnerships, introduced in 2005, are limited to same-sex couples.

Now we see the result of modernism which was roundly condemned so long ago. Pius X had defined Modernism as a heresy in his encyclicals Pascendi Dominici Gregis and Lamentabili Sane Exitu. The subordination of the authority of the Soul to the pleasures of the flesh. The debts made with the satan to promote the state by Catholics to the abandonment of the faith are comming due.

When I am accused of being Catholic and faithful to the Church will there be enough evidence to indict me? ...to try me?

We are Catholic, therefore we do not fear death

I was saddened this last Friday by the news that my mother, Eugenie had suffered a stroke and has a blocked artery. This comes about three years after the death of my late father. My sister and brother are there with her and keeping me apprised of everything going on. I seems the doctors are confident of a full recovery, and I pray that she will in fact do so.

Please pray for my mother.
