Diane de Poitiers returns to her grave…

Catherine Delors has some news concerning le Veritable Reine, Diane de Poitiers.

...Diane de Poitiers is one of the foremost ladies of the French Renaissance. As the mistress of King Henri II, twenty years her junior, she wielded immense political influence. She was given the royal title of Duchesse de Valentinois, and much of the crown jewels. The palatial chateau of Anet was built for her in the midst of her late husband’s vast estates, and another one, Chenonceau, belonging to Queen Catherine de Medici, was transferred to her.More...

Like many other things, the Revolution decided to destroy the things it could not control by decree, thus Diane's body was dug up and thrown into a common grave. The dead don't care. She gets the last laugh, she is remembered and the grave robbers are not. Fitting for one who lived in intrigue, no?

Dunkirk, 26 May, 1940

It was on this day in 1940 that the British and French Army began to evcuate the mainland of Europe at Dunkirk. In all Operation Dynamo rescued 338,226 troops, however most of the BEF's equipment was lost, but the core of it's fighting forces were saved. They proved to be the nucleus of the Britains defenses, as well as the core of the Free French Army.

"The beach, black with men, illumined by the fires, seemed a perfect target." Arthur D. Divine, rescuer.

"It was the queerest, most nondescript flotilla that ever was, and it was manned by every kind of Englishman, never more than two men, often only one, to each small boat. There were bankers and dentists, taxi drivers and yachtsmen, longshoremen, boys, engineers, fishermen and civil servants. . .

It was dark before we were well clear of the English coast. It wasn't rough, but there was a little chop on, sufficient to make it very wet, and we soaked the Admiral to the skin. Soon, in the dark, the big boats began to overtake us. We were in a sort of dark traffic lane, full of strange ghosts and weird, unaccountable waves from the wash of the larger vessels. When destroyers went by, full tilt, the wash was a serious matter to us little fellows. We could only spin the wheel to try to head into the waves, hang on, and hope for the best.

Stern stuff these British. "T'was a near run thing... "

Deutschland uber alles?

The following excerpt is correct but it doesn't tell the whole story. The influx of Muslims into the German republic means that quite soon Germany will change hands and will become an Islamic country. That is 1.38 German births to 9.0 Muslim births. Germany has surrendered it's country and it's culture for what? Peace? Deutschland uber alles?

Germany is shrinking — fast. New figures released on May 17 show the birth rate in Europe's biggest economy has plummeted to a historic low, dropping to a level not seen since 1946. As demographers warn of the consequences of not making enough babies to replace and support an aging population, the latest figures have triggered a bout of national soul-searching and cast a harsh light on Chancellor Angela Merkel's family policies.

According to a preliminary analysis by the Federal Statistics Office, 651,000 children were born in Germany in 2009 — 30,000 fewer than in 2008, a dip of 3.6%. In 1990, German mothers were having on average 1.5 children each; today that average is down to 1.38 children per mother. With a shortfall of 190,000 between the number of people who died and the number of children who were born, Germany's birth rate is well below the level required to keep the population stable.

June is the month of the Sacred Heart

Irrisitable Novena to the Sacred Heart.

O my Jesus who didst say: “Indeed I say to you, ask and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” Here I am, knocking, seeking, and asking the grace (mention your request).

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be…
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.

O my Jesus who didst say: “Indeed I say to you, whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, it shall be granted to you.” Here I am, asking Thy Father in Thy name for the grace (mention your request).

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be…
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.

O my Jesus who didst say: “Indeed I say to you, heaven and earth shall pass, but my words shall not pass.” Here I am, and supporting myself on the infallibility of Thy words, I ask Thee the grace (mention your request).

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be…
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom only one thing is impossible and that is not to feel compassion for the wretched, have pity on us, miserable sinners, and grant us the grace which we ask Thee through the Immaculate Heart of She who is Thy tender Mother and also ours.

Hail Holy Queen (Salve Regina)
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, Our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry,Poor banished children of Eve,To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weepingIn this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us, And after this our exile, Show unto us the blessed fruitOf thy womb, Jesus.O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy Of the promises of Christ.Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy hear and answer me.

Saint Joseph foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

Mademoiselle de Sombreuil

Coming as a link from Elena-Maria Vidal, is this tragic yet heroic story of a young woman who loved her father, Mademoiselle de Sombreuil. Follow this link to the story.
After watching Danton before going to work today, the visual of the guillotine is fresh in my mind.

Dieu le Roy!
Dieu Sauve le Roy.
