Planned parenthood is defunded!

House Overwhelmingly Votes to Scrap Plannned Parenthood Funding

...“This afternoon’s vote is a victory for taxpayers and a victory for life. By banning federal funding to Planned Parenthood, Congress has taken a stand for millions of Americans who believe their tax dollars should not be used to subsidize the largest abortion provider in America,” Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana said after the vote. “I commend my colleagues in both parties for taking a stand for taxpayers and a stand for life. I encourage my colleagues in the Senate to support this legislation and end federal funding of Planned Parenthood once and for all.”...

A great day for life.

The vote must now go to the Senate. Let us see how many Senators will vote to sacrifice infant lives.

The White Rose Movement

“Nothing is so unworthy of a civilized nation as allowing itself to be ‘governed’ by an irresponsible clique that has yielded to base instinct” Leaflet #1

Hans and Sophie Scholl were as typical teenagers during the period of the Third Reich: they enlisted in the Hitler youth organization and put their trust in the man behind its name who vowed to help the “fatherland to achieve greatness, fortune, and prosperity”. Their sister Inge Scholl recalls that she and her siblings “entered into it with body and soul,” consumed wholly by the “mysterious power which swept [them] along”. However, Hans quickly realized why his father disapproved of their involvement; he began to feel the stifling effects of fascism and was horrified by the heinous murders he witnessed. His readings of philosophical and theological texts augmented his disdain for the Nazi party. He allied with fellow University of Munich students of similar dispositions and began The White Rose movement to end the Nazi regime. His sister Sophie and Professor Kurt Huber, a philosophy professor at the University, would later join the cause. Dissent was not what made this group extraordinary; thousands of Germans, crippled with fear by Nazi propaganda, felt just as they did. What set the members of The White Rose apart was their unwillingness to remain silent and their selfless decision to act on their intuitions. More...

Munich University: What appears to be torn pieces of paper scattered on the forecourt pavers is on closer examination, is revealed to be ceramic tiles, scrap-shaped and printed with slogans.

This ‘litter’ is a moving tribute to the students who were executed for taking part in the White Rose movement, a short-lived student protest against Hitler and the Third Reich in 1942. Inside the university, a bas-relief of the group members is usually decorated daily with fresh flowers. A small museum at the university tells their story.

Egypt and the Revolution

This link from Tea at Trianon shows the dangers of believing that the Egyptian revolution will bring about democracy. History shows that this is usually not the case...

...Since the French Revolution in 1789, revolutions have shown common features that are directly relevant to what is happening in Egypt right now. Since the final outcome in Egypt after Mubarak’s ouster– a new regime — may be weeks, even months or years, away, it is worth pausing to take the long view...

St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church

Reuters

As quoted by Yahoo News

St Nicholas Greek Orthodox church sued the public agency that owned the World Trade Center on Monday, saying the agency reneged on a deal to rebuild a church that was destroyed in the 11 September 2001 attacks. The church says the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey broke a 2008 promise to rebuild St Nicholas Church at a new location down the block from its old site. It also says the Port Authority started excavating church property without permission as part of the new business and transportation complex at Ground Zero. “This is not about money, this is about their commitment to rebuild the only house of worship destroyed at Ground Zero”, church spokesman Mark Arey said. The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America filed its lawsuit against the Port Authority in a US district court in Manhattan.

St Nicholas Church was built in 1916 and it was crushed when the World Trade Center towers collapsed. As part of the neighbourhood's reconstruction, the Port Authority proposed a swap of the church property for a piece of land down the street so that the agency could build a centre for screening vehicles. In exchange, the agency would give the church millions of dollars to build a bigger church. The church says the two sides had mostly agreed on the terms when the Port Authority abruptly pulled out of talks in 2009. The Port Authority claims the church was demanding too much money. “After eight months of negotiations in which the demands of the Orthodox Church continued to increase over and above what was originally agreed to in 2008, the Port Authority had to make a practical decision to move on or risk further delaying the entire World Trade Center project”, the agency said in a written statement. The Port Authority said it offered 20 million USD (585.789 million Roubles 14.786 million Euros 12.448 million UK Pounds) of financing, and as much as 40 million USD (1.152 billion Roubles 29.572 million Euros 24.896 million UK Pounds) more to cover extra costs related to the construction of a Port Authority parking lot under the church. It claims the church wanted a building six times bigger than its original one. The church said that was only fair because it was giving up the valuable “air rights” over its original site. Air rights allow builders to put skyscrapers on small pieces of land. In addition, about one-third of the new church would have been a memorial area for people of all faiths to gather, Arey said.

Removing homosexual acts from the list of Sins...

A few days ago I wrote about the Ipod App which was to help owners to examine their conscience. That is unless that conscience involves homosexuality.

The Guardian: ...The launch of an iPhone app that guides Catholics through confession has prompted a furious response from gay rights groups, who accuse it of "promoting anti-gay spiritual abuse".

"Confession: A Roman Catholic App", which costs £1.19 from the Apple iTunes store, has shot to 26 in the download charts, behind Sims 3 and Resident Evil 4: Platinum.

The app allows "a personalised examination of conscience for each user", and has already won the backing of senior members of the Catholic church. A spokesman for the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales said it was a "useful tool to help people prepare for the sacrament of reconciliation". Among the questions users are asked is: "Have I been guilty of any homosexual activity?"

Wayne Besen, executive director of Truth Wins Out, a group that campaigns on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people, accused the app of "helping to create neurotic individuals who are ashamed of who they are".

"This is cyber spiritual abuse that promotes backward ideas in a modern package," said Besen. "Gay Catholics don't need to confess, they need to come out of the closet and challenge anti-gay dogma. The false idea that being gay is something to be ashamed of has destroyed too many lives. This iPhone app is facilitating and furthering the harm."

Gay rights groups have become concerned at the use of technology to target minorities. Besen pointed to the Manhattan Declaration app, which was released last October on the back of a 5,000-word petition drawn up by several Christian groups, and opposed LGBT rights and gay marriage. A furor among liberal commentators prompted iTunes to pull the app from its store.

A spokesman for the Confession App's creator declined to comment. However, the company has insisted it did not write the questions, which were posed by Catholic priests...

So now the gay agenda is changing officially the definition of sin.

...Sigismund was something of a sport upon the family stock: if one had not known he was a Vasa one would have said he was a Habsburg. He was the only member of his family for three generations to be blessed with an equable temper; perhaps also the only one not to be cursed with the sin of ambition. His Polish subjects, who found him heavy going and disliked the German atmosphere at his court, inquired irritably 'who is this dumb devil that they have sent us from Sweden?' and coined the famous phrase, 'Tria T fecerunt nostro Regi vae: Taciturnitas, Tarditas, Tenacitas'. He had his father's pride and melancholy; he inherited the aesthetic interests of both his parents, and was himself (to the contempt of his Polish subjects) a painter of talent; but he lacked the Vasas' gift of words and their ability to come to terms with the common man... more...
