Letter from a Haiti survivor to a Navy nurse

...For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me. Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee? Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me... Matt. 25, 35-40 Douay- Rhiems

If you listen to the news, the United States Navy and military are portrayed as the occupiers of Haiti. As will be seen in the letter below Haitians are grateful for the aid and Comfort they are receiving. Nor arethey reaping the penalties from God for making a pact with the devil as announced by certain TV show evangelists.

The below letter, written by Marie-Rose Lundi, an earthquake survivor was given to a US Navy RN who was sent to Haiti to support the Mission to succour the victims. This woman, Marie-Rose, survived the earthquake with only 1 of her 4 children, the other 3 having died, when she wrote this letter to Lt. Williams.

In this letter Marie-Rose is thankful for everything our Navy is doing, and does not come off as anyone who is mad at God for this tragedy befalling her. This letter is full of Hope, one of the cardinal virtues. There is no recriminations toward God, no anger at His will, just acceptance. There are no statements about occupiers, or wishing that a pact hadn't been made with the devil, Just hope, and thanks, and Prayer.

"I say thank to God for all the good things he has done. Thanks to everyone on this ship for their help and their kindness to the sick. Thanks also for their patience, from doctors, nurses, corpsmen and everyone that have been around to show love, support and concerns."

"Shall God bless everyone on you and give you protection as he will bless Haiti and the people of Haiti."

"I can’t stop say thank you and thank you very much."

"Psalms 46: God is our refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it’s waters, roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, Kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts."

"The Lord Almighty is with us; the God Jacob is our fortress. Come and see the works of the Lord, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

"The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. For all your efforts your strength, you kindness that you shown to the people of Haiti, shall God bless every one of you. Word of Mathew; People who give a lot will receive a lot more and for those who give little will receive very little too. By your presence you give hope courage and strength to the people of Haiti by helping them forget about their sickness."

"Word of God in Psalms 141 V2-3: I rebuild Jerusalem I take way fears from the heart of those who fear. I take care of the injured. That is the way you take care of the injured. That is the way you take care of the sick in Haiti and take away fears from the mind and heart of the people of Haiti and all because of you they can hope again."

"Last, I got hope and believe that your help will need and will not be missing in the all process of rebuilding Haiti also."

"Thanks, Thanks"

The below photos have never before been seen.

The Presidential Palace may be seen here on the upper right. The Catholic Church in the lower center has not fallen.

No where to go.

A tent city.

Inbound food, the woman in the photo with her hands up appears to be the Aircraft Director.

Another church which fell.

Thanks and a big tip of the beret to Lt(jg)Williams for allowing me to post this letter and it's translation, along with the photographs. If you wish to link to this post or copy this post please add the Lt's name for using them. Thanks to Natha Cavender for typing the translation for me much faster than I could ever do.
