Ft Hood and the massacre, a few thoughts.

Going home yesterday, I was saddened to hear the news that a man went into a reception center at Ft. Hood, and killed 13 and wounding 30.

Here are some of my thoughts...

The FBI immediately announced it was not a terrorist attack. How they knew that, I have no idea. The gunman, Nidal Malik Hasan, however, had a Facebook page, (now taken down) through which he reportedly made, "...posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades...". It has also been reported that Nidal Malik Hasan (left ) shouted Allahu Akbar, (God is Great) which is the cry of a homicide bomber. Hasan was a major in the US Army, Medical Corps who had been recantly transferred from Maryland. It is reported that his fitness for duty reports graded him substandard.

This is terrorism. How many have to die before Homeland Security has to get of their dead buts and stem this?

There could be a charge of Treason. As stated, in Article III Section 3 delineates treason as follows:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. It is the only crime listed in the US Constitution.

Every effort is being made currently to give excuses by saying...

(A cousin, Nader Hasan,) to The New York Times, that after counseling soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with post-traumatic stress disorder, Hasan knew war firsthand. "He was mortified by the idea of having to deploy," Nader Hasan said. "He had people telling him on a daily basis the horrors they saw over there." So what did he thinks he was joining, a golf club? Every soldier, and Marine hates to deploy. During the last 10 years of my 22 1/2 years of my Marine Corps career I was gone about 200 days each year. You may ask my wife Suzanne. But by and large each man and woman steps up when called and does their duty. (Most are very humble about any medals they make as well.)

It is now 69 days since the president received a report from the Commander in Afghanistan of the need for more troops. He has failed to act. A trait of a good leader is decisiveness.

In related news President Obama says don't jump to conclusions...

"We don't know all the answers yet. And I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts," Obama said in a Rose Garden statement otherwise devoted to the economy.

"What we do know is that there are families, friends and an entire nation grieving right now for the valiant men and women who came under attack yesterday," the president said.

Obama is lost...

Dieu le Roy!
