Death of Madame Elisabeth

Elena-Maria has a short article on the sister of King Louis XVI, Madame Elisabeth. She was also the mentor and friend of Madame Royale. I do not think I could be far wrong in saying that after her parents, Madame Elisabeth was the most influential person in Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte's life. She was a model of Christan piety , chastity, and holiness. Young women who today are all to "into" role models like Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, and the like would do far better to emulate the life of this Daughter of France.

In her Memoirs, translated by John Wilson Croker, Madame Royale describes the last days of her aunt, Madame Elisabeth, guillotined on May 10, 1794. After Madame Elisabeth was taken away, Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte was alone. Elisabeth, the sister of Louis XVI, was thirty years old when she was killed. more...
Thanks and a tip of the beret to Elena-Maria Vidal

I am currently reading a short biography of Madame Elisabeth by Princess Henriette of Belgium, Duchess of Vendome. Henriette was the sister of King Albert I of Belgium and worked for the cause of beatification of Madame Elisabeth. It is very interesting to hear the one princess talk about the other. Elisabeth and Henriette were related in two ways(at least), both through the House of France and through the House of Saxony.
